(Urgent News - Due to huge demand we have changed the venue for the FOTE conference from RIBA to Imperial College, London)
The role of IT in the academic sector is now more important and fast changing than ever before. In a competitive market, with students demanding leading edge IT services 24/7, institutions are now being judged not just on their academic capabilities but on the value-add services they provide to students. Among these services, IT is often viewed as one of the most significant areas when choosing a college/university.
Here in lies the problem; the MySpace and Facebook generation now expects more from their IT, and these expectations are putting demands not just on infrastructure but challenging the very nature and method that learning is delivered.
With this in mind, what is the future of technology in education? Unsure? Well, ULCC can't promise to provide all the answers, but we have gathered some of the leading technology organisations and academic practitioners in the UK to help us answer that question. The forum for this is our ?Future of Technology in Education? (FOTE) event. The event is supported by BBC Backstage and is aimed at senior IT professionals.
Google, LMN, Apple, Intechnology, Knowledge Labs, Huddle and many others are scheduled to be involved and our podcast series (TechTalk) will offer insightful preliminary interviews with some of the speakers leading up to the event.
Please note, registration for this conference is now closed. Video content from the day and a summary paper produced in conjunction with JANET (UK) will be released after the event. Please check back here regularly for more information.
