Digital preservation: What we offer

The Digital Preservation team at ULCC is a unique combination of experts in the field, with many years' experience of dealing with data archives, software applications, and electronic records management.

We offer storage and preservation solutions for a wide range of digital formats - images, video, datasets - suited to data of all kinds, including those in medical, scientific, geographic and cultural heritage context. Possible applications include digital images, audio and video files, satellite data, and very large survey datasets.

Data rescue and migration
ULCC has years of experience rescuing valuable data from obsolete formats and storage media.
Integrated solutions
Our dedicated team of experienced IT and records management specialists, and our extensive computing and storage facilities can provide cradle-to-grave, future-proof solutions for digital preservation systems, including hosting, networking, web services, databases and cataloguing.
Cataloguing and metadata
ULCC provides cataloguing services for the UK Web Archiving Consortium (UKWAC), and works with current initiatives in international cataloguing and metadata standards, including Dublin Core, ISAD(G), EAD, PREMIS. We can provide tailor-made solutions for managing descriptive and preservation metadata
Digitisation
Building on over 20 years of digitisation provision, with clients such as The National Archives, the British Film Institute (BFI) and The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), we are proud to offer an all-inclusive digitisation service ranging from scanning, photography and audiovisual capture to post-digitisation imaging and audiovisual transformation.
Open standards and open source
ULCC solutions are developed using reliable, secure open source database and web technologies, including XML and SQL, to produce standards-compliant, interoperable web-based systems.
Training and advice
ULCC offers training and advice on all aspects of digital preservation, including risk assessment, records and project management. and technical issues.
