Their Past Your Future (TPYF)

ULCC is providing permanent preservation of digital resources created by educational authorities and local history societies under the programmes "Their Past Your Future" and "Home Front Recall".

Their Past Your Future was an educational programme led by the Imperial War Museum and supported by the Big Lottery Fund as part of the official commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. Home Front Recall was a strand of the Veterans Reunited programme, also funded by TPYF. Veterans Reunited was launched at the beginning of 2004 by the Big Lottery Fund to bring generations of people in the UK together to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The collection will be a unique combination of oral history, reminisces from veterans and evacuees, and documentation of local celebrations which took place in the United Kingdom in 2005. The digital records - some of which incorporate historical materials from the 1940s - take the form of moving images, audio recordings, slideshows, and still photographs.

Material will be transferred to ULCC in a wide range of digital formats, stored for long term preservation, and converted to presentation formats for online access. We are building a descriptive catalogue of the material and making the resources available to the public over the internet.

The service is provided for the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and is funded by a grant from the Big Lottery Fund. Further details of the project can be found at http://tpyf.ulcc.ac.uk
