Repositories for HE and Research

ULCC develops and hosts institutional repositories for a range of organisations within the higher education and research sector, providing Open Access to research outputs.

Our service is based on the highly-acclaimed EPrints open source repository software. We provide and maintain all the repository infrastructure, allowing Repository Managers to concentrate on managing their content.

ULCC's Repositories team has contributed to many national initiatives and developments for Open Access (OA) repositories, these include:

  • SNEEP, the widely-used Social Networking Extensions plugins for EPrints
  • CLASM, an initiative to integrate Moodle with OA repositories, using the SWORD deposit protocol
  • MERLIN, a major project that integrated text-mining services from NaCTeM with repositories, to enhance search and discovery in individual repositories and aggregated collections

Our Institutional Repository customers include:

  • School of Advanced Studies, University of London
  • Birkbeck, University of London
  • Institute of Education, University of London
  • School of Pharmacy, University of London
  • Institute of Musical Research, University of London

  • Heythrop College, University of London
  • School of Oriental and African Studies

We actively support SHERPA-LEAP, the consortium of Institutional Repository managers from current and former University of London institutions. We also participate in national and international events and forums, including the JISC Repositories Support Project (RSP), and the Open Repositories conferences.
